Winning one of this weekend’s races at Belmont Park (NY) would be a dream come true for anyone including a couple of queens who have thrown their hats, err, crowns in the races.

On Friday, Queen Elizabeth’s 4 year old turf colt Call to Mind will run in the 2 mile, $400,000 Belmont Gold Cup. It will be a rare sight for spectators to see the purple and scarlet colors running down an American track. Her Majesty’s horse will run from the rail and enters the race with 2 wins from 8 starts at shorter distances.

On Saturday, the Belmont Stakes has the potential of a new Triple Crown Winner with Justify, but not if this queen has anything to say about it.

Mike Repole co-owns two Belmont Stakes contenders; Vino Rosso, winner of the Wood Memorial and Noble Indy winner of the Louisiana Derby. Repole is from Queens New York and has always dreamed of winning the Belmont Stakes. He grew up going to Aqueduct and Belmont Park and has waited a lifetime for a horse good enough to win. This year he has two. Perhaps this weekend “Mike from Queens’ “dream will finally come true.
