Jakar was one of those horses that slipped through the cracks through no fault of his own. A few years ago he was sold for slaughter but luck was on his side. Someone purchased him and donated him to the Cleveland Police Department’s mounted unit.
On January 20, Jakar was front and center in the President’s Inauguration Parade accompanied by the other four horses of mounted unit.
“This is like the pinnacle of our careers and (the horses’) careers,” said Sgt. Mark Medwid, head of the mounted unit.
